A liquid legend. Castillo Ygay Blanco 1986 is one of Spain's most mythical and long-lived white wines. Time has turned it into bottled history: a Viura (with some Malvasía) from the legendary Ygay vineyard, aged for over 20 years in oak barrels and refined in bottle until its release to the market.
A white wine that has made history. Rated 100 points by Robert Parker, it is one of those wines that are talked about — and treasured — more than they are drunk.
Tasting notes:
Bright, old gold color. On the nose, it's a festival of complexity: honey, wax, dried fruits, citrus peel, dried flowers, noble woods, and surprising freshness. On the palate, it is silky, broad, with a prodigious balance between acidity and structure. Very long finish. A unique experience.
Recommended pairing:
Very special dishes: baked seafood, noble fish, foie gras, aged cheeses, or even white meats with complex sauces. Or simply, enjoy it alone, in silence.
