Miguel Merino Quinta Cruz

One of the few wines made exclusively with Mazuelo in Rioja. The risk is high given the difficulty of the varietal: vigorous, susceptible to disease, and with a very long ripening cycle. Additionally, the harsh conditions of La Quinta Cruz (steep slope, poor and stony soil) provide unique grapes for this very special wine. The name comes from the fact that the vineyard is located at the fifth station of penance of the Stations of the Cross during the annual pilgrimage to the hermitage of El Calvario in Briones.
