Viña Coqueta is a reserve red wine from the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin, produced by Bodegas Remírez de Ganuza. This wine comes exclusively from the "Viña Coqueta" estate, a vineyard planted in 1975 and located at the foot of the winery in Samaniego, Álava.
Grape varieties:
-
Tempranillo (90%)
-
Graciano (10%)
The grapes are hand-harvested into 12-kilogram boxes and undergo cold maceration for 24 hours at temperatures between 4 and 6 ºC. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete tanks of various sizes. The wine ages for approximately 24 months in French and American oak barrels, mostly new.
Tasting notes:
-
Appearance: Dark cherry red color with a red rim that evolves to ruby tones.
-
Nose: Intense and complex aromas of jammy fruit, balsamic notes, dried fruits, caramel, and toasted and mineral nuances reminiscent of graphite.
-
Palate: Broad, dense, fleshy, and fruity, with a fine tannic structure that provides great length and flavor.
