White Calamity

Oxer Bastegieta is a viticulturist and winemaker whose roots lie in the production of txakoli, the flagship white wine of the Basque Country. In love with Rioja Alavesa, he moved to Laguardia in search of old vineyards that would allow him to make unique and timeless wines.

 

Kalamity Blanco is made predominantly from the Viura grape and a combination of different white varieties (Calagraño, one of the oldest varieties in Rioja's winemaking history, Torrontés, Garnacha Blanca, Maturana Blanca, and Malvasía Riojana), with whole cluster pressing and fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The resulting wine ages for approximately 10 months in 600-liter French oak barrels.
