Elena Corzana Maturana Navarrete

It is a minority variety, recovered in Navarrete only 35 years ago. It has a very different flavor from a traditional Rioja, surprising, with black fruits and spices.
A descendant of Cabernet Franc, Maturana Tinta maintains those aromas that Elena tastes in each sample she takes before harvesting, when the grape is ripe. "In Maturana, I look for freshness, not too much alcohol, wines that are easy to drink."
"The clay amphora allows you to taste the pure grape and greatly rounds out the mouthfeel, whereas wood always imparts a flavor to the wine and adds more sweetness. The differences are more than proven and offer other possibilities, while also revaluing local varieties. We are lucky because now diversity, purity, and authenticity are in vogue. Not to mention its potential in the face of climate change, as we are increasingly obtaining more alcoholic wines, and the amphora manages to balance those levels with the freshness of the fruit."
